Li Ying is one of my classmates. We share a bedroom with four others,so we are also roommates.Today is her birthday and it so happened that it is Sunday at the weekend. We decide to hold a party to celebrate Li Ying's birthday in our own bedroom.Since she is the youngest in our room,we all feel responsible to take care of her.We hope that this party can relieve her homesickness.
We bought some fruit and candy, nineteen small candles, and a cake.At seven in the evening, the party began. We lit the candles and sang "A happy birthday to you" to Li Ying. And then we each gave her a small present.Li Ying looked excited and happy. She blew out the candles, and we tasted the fruit and candy while talking about various funny things we experienced in our childhood at home.At the end of the party we encouraged each other to study even harder and be top students in our class.
The party was a success, for Li Ying seemed very pleased and looked more confident of herself.Tomorrow she will be nineteen years of age.
For the old generation, they believe that thrift is a virtue and have been educating their offspring to keep these words all the time. Indeed, thrift can help people not to waste the resources and let more people have the chance to share it. But sometimes over thrift is not favored by the young generation. Take my parents for example. They have gone through the hard time, so they save every cent they can. When we go shopping, my mother always hesitates to buy more food, because she wants to taste different flavor, but she is very struggling to pay the bill. In my opinion, money is used to improve people's life, besides the basic needs, we also need to find amusement. The old generation only chases the former while ignore the latter. Money deserves to be spent on finding amusement.
Nowadays, green food is favored by more and more people and it can be seen in many supermarkets. The popularity of green food lies in the security. Many years ago, many popular snacks and restaurants were accused of containing the ingredients that were below the standard. The public felt scared and insecure, because they had access to the low quality food all the time and they even did not know it. As green food came into being, the scientists advocated to eat it. The public were happy to accept, even though the price was a little higher than the average food. What's more, green food is very healthy. It contains low fat, which is good for people's health. Choosing the green food shows people's life standard has improved and they realized the importance of health.
Taking care of the old people is the traditional merit in China, because Chinese people pay special attention to the family union. As more and more young people choose to work in the big cities, they are far away from home and have less time to visit their parents. So they give them the money to show care of the old. But for the old people, they don't care much about the money, what they want is to see their children as often as possible. No matter how busy we are, we should spare some time to stay with our relatives. When they are gone, we will surely regret for not companying them with enough time. So don't let work stuffs take up your private time, just go home often and talk to your parents, which is worthy of all.
We will never forget our freshman year at college. In general it is a time filled with anticipation, some anxiety, and wonderful discoveries.
College is much different than high school. You may decide to commute from your home to a local campus. Without doubt, the most dramatic freshman year is for those living away from home. What can we expect as we head off into the wonderful world of higher education?
The first thing I notice is the workload. It is heavier and more intense than I ever experienced before. The major challenges of college work are large volume of reading, short deadlines, and “endless” writing. A related effect that can be brought on by the workload is doubt, frustration, and loneliness if possible.
On some of those long, seemingly endless nights of studying and writing, it will be very natural for me to long for fine old days. Hang in there. These down periods will pass.
I have made a lot of new friends. I am sure college friendships will be among the most satisfying and long-term in my life. It's always exciting to discover how wonderfully diverse college relationships can be.
I am enjoying my newfound freedom. Stay up until dawn talking about my ideals and ambitions with my dorm's regular bull session buddies. Sleep in until the afternoon on a light class day. Explore the local town or suburbs with one or two of my new friends.
I even start to think about my future. Going to college is as much about finding out who am I as it is about getting the degree.
